It will be interesting to see how vista does after SP1.

According to the release notes it's not that much of a change. I'd prob install it and then get pissed about the same stupid little things and go back to XP.

i hope they get their shit together with vista sometime in the next year because i'd like to buy a new computer.

can't believe my current one is still running perfectly, considering how much i spent compared to the amount of movies/music/porn that have passed through this thing.

i disagree (about vista). there's one thing that i really hate about vista, there are programs i need that i can't use on vista, such as matlab (which i use for my classes and research). only the newest version of matlab7 works on vista, i don't have it. and there are a lot of other programs that either don't work at all on vista or you need to buy the newest version, which i can't really afford.

i don't know what people generally bitch about vista for, but my problem is legit.

and running it in compatibility mode doesn't work

I like Vista and the newer looking stuff, and lots of the nice little improvements. What I have a hard time getting used to is some of the file manager changes. I absolutely hate how each filename in a directory listing is basically a box, so if you click the white space next to the name, it's as if you're clicking the filename and not white space. It makes it a pain in the ass to drag out a box to select multiple files. There's just a handful of minor details like that which really bug the hell outta me.

I got no problems with any programs I use, and like and use Office 2007 just fine.

I have nothing of substance to contribute to this thread, so I'll say this: Apple sucks

I HATE VISTA, it's the Windows ME of the XP product line... the version AFTER vista should kick ass. I do however like Office 2007.

Agreed... I think XP is good enough to tide everyone over until then.

That would annoy the hell out of me.

It's similar to the Ctrl/Cmd key issues on a Mac. Just make it work the way it should.

One of the other little things I remembered was how it treats new files into an open folder. Say you're downloading a file and point it to c:\temp to download to. You have the c:\temp folder open, in XP when the file finishes, it is put on the end of the listing of files. If you refresh or close/reopen the folder, it then puts it in the correct alphabetical order by filename. With Vista, it doesn't put it on the end, it auto puts the file into alpha order as soon as the download is complete. Same if you do something like a right-click extract all winrar command or something. Sure it's not a huge deal, but it's enough to annoy the hell outta me. It should at least be an option (maybe it is and I just didn't see it?).
