yeah, god forbid a candidate takes advantage of the celebrity status of somebody who is openly supporting their campaign to help make themselves more of a household name and show that they have a sense of humor. fuck him, fuck him and everyone that knows him.

it's not like godzillary is using her douche-list celebrities (and her husband, which is ridiculously weak) and going up on stage at lefty concerts, and obama sure isn't specifically going for oprah and using her show to boost his name. that would just be desperate.

The republican nomination is a crap shoot at this point.

Some other tidbits that have just come to light concerning Huckabee and his run for Senate in the early 90's:

1) Wanted to isolate AIDS patients from the general public (even though at the time it was known that AIDS could not be spread by casual contact)
2) Opposed increased federal funding to find a cure suggesting that Hollywood celebrities who were advocating a cure pay for it out of their own pocket rather than federal health agencies
3) Thought that homosexuality would pose a "dangerous public health risk."

Granted he has changed his viewpoint on AIDS funding since being a Presidential nominee, but still...

Seriously I don't understand why you guys keep quoting separation of church and state. It doesn't mean people in government can't be religious. In fact, if it did mean that, it'd be unconstitutional.

There is a line between a candidate being religious personally and leading a crusade to make the US a Christian nation...

More so than the separation of church-state issue, I think the statements say a lot about his mental health...I mean blaming school shootings on the fact that the US has lost it's way in the belief of God sounds awfully familiar to the rhetoric spouted from Westboro Baptists....

Sure, they can be religious. But they can't be so uber religious that they start trying to force it on the nation (which Huckabee might want to do).

I don't think that anyone is opposing Huckabee on religious grounds. But do we really want anyone in office whose religious beliefs drive his actions in office?
