Thought we had a thread on this gal from a while back, but I guess not. I only found three or four "teacher has sex with young student" threads.

It was a violation of her probation. She wasn't supposed to have any unsupervised interaction with minors, especially not about sexual matters.

since when is a 17 year old a minor? i thought that was the golden age or something...the cut off point if you will. and i think she is in her 40s now

17 is a minor no matter what state you're in. Age of sexual consent is a completely different matter, varies tons from state to state, but basically is somewhere between 16-18. Many states, Texas included, have provisions that sex with someone under the age of consent is legal so long as the older individual is within so many years of the underage individual (usually 2-4).
In Texas, age of consent is 17 (anyone, 17 or older can engage in sexual relations with them). Younger, it's legal if the other person is within three years of 'em. Given the numerous variations on sexual consent laws, I'm not surprised that people get easily confused by them. Anywho. Yes, it's creepy. And the woman is 27, not in her 40's.
