Apparently it has to do with right brain vs. left brain stuff QUOTE If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. anti-clockwise = counter-clockwise for those of you who don't know british/australian english. some of my other friends didn't know.
Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it. This post has been edited by jonathan83: Oct 10 2007, 11:32 PM -------------------- ![]() |

for me, it's clockwise. it says most people see counter-clockwise, and i have friends who said they could see both if they looked at it enough.
but honestly, i can't even fathom this picture turning counter-clockwise. i've looked at it forever and can only see it going clockwise. i'm wondering if this has anything to do with being left-handed, so when you vote, please include whether you're a righty or lefty. -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS uses logic detail oriented facts rule words and language present and past math and science can comprehend knowing acknowledges order/pattern perception knows object name reality based forms strategies practical safe QUOTE RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS uses feeling "big picture" oriented imagination rules symbols and images present and future philosophy & religion can "get it" (i.e. meaning) believes appreciates spatial perception knows object function fantasy based presents possibilities impetuous risk taking i put clockwise, but its really based on what part of the body you are looking at, and what the angle of the plane your clock is on. i tend to look down on everything. so her feet and arms moved clockwise. -------------------- |

if you squint at it so you can barely see it, you can make it switch. at first glance though i saw clockwise. i am right handed... although fairly ambidextrous... i do some things like deal cards w/my left hand.... dunno why.

I keep seeing bits of it going counter but mostly it's going clockwise.

I see it going clockwise.
If I concentrate upon the shadows I can make her rotate counter-clockwise, but the minute I look away and then look back she reverts to clockwise rotation. -------------------- |

if you concentrate on which ankle passes in front of the other, it's actually really easy to make it switch

just by staring at it for a while....I think it is changing the direction it rotates every couple of minutes (in a literal fashion). The hip level shifts each time this happens.

wow, am I the ONLY one that sees it going counter clockwise?!
I have NO IDEA how you see it the other way, this is so strange... I stared at it for a while and just can't see her going clockwise. I did read the list of left/right brain functions and I'm definitely left-brained so it makes sense. Edit:: oh and I'm an ambi... -------------------- ![]() |

i tend to look down on everything. so her feet and arms moved clockwise. hah, this is my argument for counter-clockwise (to me her feet/arms move counter-clock)!! hah, this is so strange... -------------------- ![]() |

The hip level shifts each time this happens. nope, it doesn't change directions. one of my friends opened it in a gif editor already and there are 34 frames and it starts over from the beginning every time. There are no tricks, nothing special about it, just an animated gif with one continuous revolution. crazy how it does that to you though, a couple of my friends also thought it was changing directions on them. -------------------- ![]() |
