You know... I never could quite understand why it is that when people say that anything from Apple sucks they always seem to focus more on the people that use them than the actual product itself... the last apple i touched was a IIe computer, due large in part to the fact that just about everybody i've ever known who owned an apple product was a shitbox douche. don't know anything about the products and don't have an interest in learning. apple users are as effective at turning people off to their product as evangelicals are to making people hate christianity (and they're equally effective at sucking in and brainwashing the weak and stupid... not going to name names). whoever mentioned the smug episode on south park is 100% dead on |

using installer, iPhone now has GPS. i tried it and it told me exactly where i am. it uses cell towers and some wifi positioning or something, but it works. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/apple/iphone-gp...orks-301459.php

nice. yeah it depends on your cell network if you have access to these coordinates or not. i know with verizon you can but with sprint you can't unless you get this "family locator" plan or something.

i read talk of a 3G with included GPS iPhone early next year.
looks like most of the complaints that started this thread are getting fixed/patched/hacked/created. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

well 3G and GPS are two different things. are they saying it will include a real GPS chip, or saying the cell tower calculated coordinates?
that's good that the stuff is getting hacked. i'm curious to see what these people are actually doing to hack the thing. there's not really any doubt in my mind that by the time my plan is up they'll have all these things in the iphone, it's just going to be a question of what kind of windows mobile devices are out by then (not to mention what the iphone 3.0 ultra super duper gold edition will look like |

yeah 3G and GPS are different but calculating my coordinates faster is cool as long as battery life doesn't suffer, which i really dont have an issue with now so i don't know what the big deal of apple saying "we didn't do 3G because of battery life" was.
i can go 3-4 days with average use of safari, phone, and text, and ipod. 2-3 days since i started messing around with all these apps. the future iphone implementation is talk of a real gps chip. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

older GPS chips suck battery like crazy but there's some newer ones out that last a really long time. that little holux bluetooth gps i got lasts for like 17 hours running and like 2 weeks on standby

impala...
lay off let people enjoy the iphone for what it is and to all the other people... impala is partially right...there is an air of elitism in Apple's HQ. Jobs really does love the smell of his own farts. Until Jobs returns to Earth, I won't buy another Apple product. -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. i said 'just about everybody' you're not the kind of mac user that buys a new ipod every six weeks or blows their load everytime an apple commercial airs so i guess what i'm saying is that you're the minority. ARE YOU CALLING ME A NIGGER?! -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good.
