come on now, I know it's not always obvious coming from me, but this one should have been... my post you called rubbish had so much sarcasm in it it should have slapped you in the face.

If that is the case then I apologize, hard to pick up sarcasm on the internet.

kids arent naturally sugar addicted loonies who go crazy for candy. its parents who dont or cant say no and have little control over their childrens behavior and nutrition.

im all for food being of better quality but im an adult and if i want a candy bar i want to be able to get one. i wouldnt want that to change because its too tempting for kids.

agreed. i am all for better nuitrition, but i don't approve of it being forced on people. if i want to supersize my damn meal, shut the fuck up and let me be a fat ass.

then again, that brings in the entire point of freedom of choice. people choose to eat unhealthy crap, so they are unhealthy.

thinking about those 2 phrases, i believe the real problem is that there isn't healthier food that is just as cheap. make the options a little more equal on cost, and then let people do as they please.

The last part is why I don't think it's entirely people's choice that is making them fatter. It is cheaper to make crappy food, so that's what the companies make, then they market the shit out of it to get people to buy it. You see everything marketed as "Low Fat!" "Low Sugar!" "Low Calorie!" blah blah blah, but it's all the same: Just a bunch of processed crap that has a varying amount of macro nutrients. They play with this shit in the lab to make it lower in calories or fat, but in the process they are taking out all of the real nutritional value.

gah processed foods. processed foods isnt why your ass is fat its eating donuts and candy bars.

a family could buy food cheaply and not be eating soda and french fries for dinner. soda is actually some of the more expensive drink options

It's not rocket science. If you eat unprocessed food without additives, preservatives, and all those other chemicals, get some moderate exercise and not be a lazy fuck then your body will be in great shape.

Simple rule of thumb is to buy all your food from the produce section, avoid the aisles and anything in a package.

Parents are lazy now-a-days and dumb as fuck.

I don't think it's necessarily the actual foods being soo much worse, as my parents always talked about eating fried chicken and mashed potatoes with lots of gravy & butter & stuff. people all cooked with lard and everyone eat all the fatty parts of steaks, nobody ate salads or lean meats, etc.

people are fat because our modern conveniences have evolved at an insane pace compared to our bodies. we have lawnmowers with drive wheels, drive thrus for everything from food to pharmacies, dishwashers, automatic car washes, remotes for every conceivable device (even your damn car stereo wtf is up w/that). families make way more money as the wife tends to have a decent paying job, so cooking/cleaning/repairs/lawn are done by hired hands more often than in the old days. we have stores where you can get every possible consumer item you need to survive, whereas the old days you may have had several different trips to make.

sure we have more calories total (probably more from sodas than anything), but I don't think it has to do so much with that as it does that we never burn calories anymore, unless we choose to exercise.

I don't see how preservatives & additives make you fat... maybe buying all the organic stuff keeps your back pocket lighter laugh.gif

I know a few people from generations before that have developed Type 2 Diabetes from eating all of the crap that you described, before fast food was part of the culture.

Humans have been around, generally unchanged, for 200,000 years. We have only been in the agricultural age (grains) for about 10,000 years. Do you really think that our bodies have adapted to these man-made chemical preservatives that have been introduced in the past 50-100 years? It's pretty much poison to your body.

Other than you being completely wrong about the food part, I totally agree with you on the laziness of modernized societies.

I can see what you're saying, but the only way to evolve and adapt is to keep doing it until those that can't hang die off laugh.gif

Damn Jason, you sounds like one of those food nazi's at the health food store. Some "organic" unprocessed food is total crap for you too. I agree though, people usually eat like crap, but some gmo foods are healthier than their organic brethern.

I think he's referring to going to McDonald's and getting a 42 ounce soda for 79 cents (costs about 1 cent per ounce to produce) or going to the gas station and buying a 20 ounce bottle of dasani water for $1.19.

And everybody sees me talking about healthy, unprocessed food and they think "organics." I'm not even talking about organic food, I'm just talking about the difference between buying a box of Fig Newtons or snacking on a banana, apple, or fruit. There is so much crap in anything you buy from the store that comes in a box compared to stuff like fruits and vegetables.
