Bell peppers are in the pepper family, but they do not contain capsaicin which is in hot peppers. Bell peppers can be sweet but some people don't like them because they can taste "green".

I've been thinking all my life on a word that describes a bell peppers' taste and you, my friend, have just solved it:
Green.

WTH does "taste green" mean anyway. Is that kind of like something tasting blue... Stop eating your crayons Timmy!

Go out...pick a leaf off of a tree and eat it. There are hints of that in bell pepper.

its a hard flavor to describe, but once you have something that 'tastes green' you will understand what people mean.

Yep. I totally understand what you mean. I don't like that taste much, which is why I prefer red bell peppers to green (reds don't have that same flavor).

YOu know what....now that I think about it you're right. Red bell peppers are sweeter without that bitter green flavor.

Someone earlier mentioned a distaste for bell peppers because of that whole perception of a pepper and how it shouldn't taste sweet. I totally get that, and it made me wonder, does anyone else dislike a certain food because of the texture. I hate oatmeal and pears, and apples if they aren't super crunchy. I like the flavor of those things a lot, but I hate the way they feel.

pickles. hate how they are crunchy on the outside and slimy on the inside. that with the vineger taste, it just doesn't combine well to me.

Yeah, I'll throw out an apple if it's not crunchy. I use to have the pickle problem, but I'm ok with it as long as they're still very crisp on the outside.

That's actually the reason why I tend to eat Granny Smith, Fuji, or Gala apples... they seem to be crisper and don't get that mealy texture that red apples tend to get.

Interesting. Did the doctor give you a name for this?
no, but she said that it had been seen before... its rare... and that doctors consider it an eating disorder.

indeed

I had a mixed fruit cup again this morning.

why on earth would anyone willingly eat this crap instead of a rad breakfast burrito?

I'm doing this as part of my don't die at 40 plan, but FUCK vegetarians are fucked!!!

you must have different genetic makeup than me. if it didn't have a face, I really don't get much satisfaction out of eating it. I'm frickin starving right now about to gnaw my goddamn arm off!

I hate eating like a frickin hippie...

lol

have you ever thought about making fruit smoothies for breakfast?

it's really easy and probably better than a fruit cup

yeah I've actually done that before. I'll take the frozen fruit and throw it in a blender with OJ and yogurt.

not bad, a bit of work as I am usually running out the door with my ass on fire and you can get fruit at 7-11.
