yeah, cable networks have come out with some pretty impressive stuff in the past 5-6 years. FX has probably the best lineup on tv right now.

The Shield is a fantastic show....

Forrest Whittaker, Chiklis, and Glenn Close are pretty fuckin dynamic on it

Lemm = awesome. I almost cried last season at the end...

Im wondering were they're gonna go with shane now (since the cat is out of the bag)

Since this is the last season im assuming a shakspearian ending.

-Oh yeah and if you havent seen the episode on their website between the last episode of last season and first episode of this season you definitely should... its awesome.

Yeah, I saw the in between episode with the funeral on the season 5 dvd. I don't think this is the last season, I read a few weeks ago that it was intended to be but FX picked them up for one more season, so next season will be the last. As much as I wanted to see Kavanaugh go, I kinda miss him now sad.gif

The reason NBC isn't adding any more comedies is because their thursday night comedy lineup is already critically acclaimed -- it really is a great lineup -- but the problem is, none of the shows are real ratings grabbers. Critics love'em, Nielson doesn't. (sidenote: Nielson/Arbitron are antiquated, outdated and woefully inaccurate -- I wish networks wouldn't put so much faith in them anymore) Basically, NBC is hoping that they'll be able to pull a "Seinfield" and boost ratings on the comedies by giving them "an extra shot" (so to speak).

Also, next season will be the final season of Scrubs, so chances are you'll get a new comedy in '08.

NBC in general is rethinking their entire approach to TV (ie, Heroes was good, (so was LOST, even though it's ABC's -- basically it's the genre I'm talking about here) so lets get more SciFi.) because they recently had their worst two ratings weeks in over 25 years.

Props to them on "Journeyman", but call it like it is, NBC: Quantum Leap - The Next Generation.

I just saw this through Zetec's post. Fuck TBS' "Very Funny" campaign! They need to go back to sports and movies and leave the funny to someone else. Each year, they broadcast fewer and fewer Braves games. They use to do movies every night, but now it seems they only do them on the weekends. I guess it gives them filler for when there are rain delays, but yesterday was the exception, not the norm.

Don't think I've ever watched anything on NBC. Their news sucks. Their shows suck. Their football sucks. Don't they have golf? They should just fold.

Is Nielson compatible with TiVo? Or does TiVo somehow make it not register?

nielson has nothing to do with tivo. basically they either give you a diary to write what shows you watch when (and pay you ONE WHOLE DOLLAR TO DO SO- MOTIVATION!!!) or (and this is a very small percentage) they give you a little box to hook up between your tv and STB/Antenna.

and for the like .001% of households that get both the box and have a tivo, i'm sure nielson just throws them out. They are looking at ways to actually monitor the actual channel you watch (anonymously) via your STB or even newer, nielson-chipped TV's, but privacy advocates are up in arms.
