My company, Ultra Clean Technology (http://www.uct.com/), is looking to hire another mechanical design engineer ASAP. If any of you know of a mechanical engineering student who graduated recently or who is graduating this semester and would be interested in a job in Austin, let me know.
In a nutshell, the work is designing gas delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing equipment -- chemical etch tools, things like that. Experience with a parametric CAD program like SolidWorks or Inventor is essential, though the amount of CAD experience an ME student gets just from coursework is probably sufficient. The CAD package used here is one called Unigraphics. The work involves a lot of project management, not pure design. After ramp-up (which, in my experience, has been 100% project management), the distribution of work is supposed to be about 70% project management, 30% design. There's also potential for analysis work in the future, so FEA experience would probably be looked on favorably. -------------------- |

I don't think he's interested in working in Texas. I PM'ed Billy about this a few weeks ago, but he'd already taken a job.

Do you have CAD experience? One of the guys who's been here since the beginning was a Spanish major in college & got tapped for the job simply because he was taking AutoCAD classes at ACC at the time. Specific degree isn't important here so much as having some CAD experience and being willing to learn.
