keeping an army across seas is not a show of strength to iraq. it's a show to everyone else So just every so often we need to pick out a weak nation, run them into the ground, then act like we're the toughest bully on the playground? Yeah, that's some shitty foreign policy (not disagreeing that it exists, just feel it's a worthless endeavor). Many more tasks could be undertaken with a greater reward for many. But I hate having our military be TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE all the time. *random insult* */reply to random insult* Durka durka done. -------------------- |

Well, as is typical, you didn't address my inquiry. Yep, he didn't allow inspectors in for 5 years, then allowed them again, then the U.S. called them back and we attacked. Haven't found much of anything in almost 5 years. But hey, we'll be there for quite a bit longer than that so maybe we can find those elusive chemical weapons factories that were so clearly marked on maps used to justify the war... ...so you're going with the "broke international law" justification. But I was trying to understand the reasoning behind saying "they (Iraq) attacked us" (I assume that's an allusion to 9/11). I also get tired of reading the myriad of causes put forth to justify that cluster fuck. well, yea, he had 5 years to hide the things.... and what i implied was that we sent an army when the public wanted us to kick some ass. we just made another stop on the way home. i don't care about any world peace dancing through the tulips and everyone is supposed to be happy hippie bullshit. the man hung, the country is in chaos, and america i'm sure is somehow reaping the benifits. i am comfortable with that -------------------- |

Please, for the sake of all humanity: never enter international politics. One Bush is more than enough for the history of mankind. Am I being an ass? You're goddamn right I am. I'm sick of this assumption that I'm a hippie/potsmoking/tree-hugging/etc. douchebag just because I actually believe in the diplomatic process as opposed to the "shoot first, ask questions later/kill 'em all, let god sort 'em out" mentality. -------------------- |

The facts:
Saddam had weapons of mass destruction before and shortly after the gulf war These weapons were given to him by the United States of America to fight Iran Saddam used these weapons on Iranians, Kurds, Sunnis, etc. The United States did nothing Saddam invades Kuwait in 1991, the united states retaliates because of oil interests which over ride their past dealings with the Iraqi dictator Weapons are seized, destroyed, and Iraq is devastated by over a decade of economic sanctions and the "food for oil" program What they told us: Saddam was partly responsible for the 9/11 attacks. False, Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist network were responsible for 9/11; unless of course you believe we attacked ourselves. Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. False: these weapons were never discovered, they were destroyed after the gulf war, even Hans Blix and other UN inspectors found no evidence of weapons of mass destruction. Even if he did have weapons, the United States gave these weapons to him.) We invaded Iraq to bring democracy to that part of the world. False, The invasion has created a civil war and an ever increasing conflict that the American people are no longer willing to fight. Some argue that the war was fought for oil, revenge, and/ or strategic reasons. I will not argue on the real reasons, because only Bush and his cronies know. What should we do: Congress must halt the increased troop deployment in Iraq (Congress does have the power of the purse). This war is not winnable. The Iraqi people will continue to fight until one side has become victorious. The only thing the United States can do is train the Iraqi forces in Iraqi and begin to pull out gradually. The last thing we need is to increase troops -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I fucking hate Michael Moore. How exactly do I sound like him? I could retort by saying you sound like a Nazi bitch...

Ummm..... Im sure we played nicely for long enough with Saddam. There is a breaking point. Saddamn was playing cat and mouse with the US and the United Nations for a long time. He could have stopped "his country" from going to war. Im glad he is dead even though I outright refuse to watch the video of him being put to death |

How exactly do I sound like him? maybe by reciting lines from fahrenheit 911? (i'm only guessing because i've never seen it-- not a big fan of comedies) while i agree that we weren't right to go over there with the evidence we had, these sorry fucks only respond to violence. you can't reason with a bunch of illiterate, brainwashed sheep. somebody has to keep some sort of order (there is an acceptable amount of violence. genocide and subjugation of entire ethnic groups are not acceptable) over there, and if it takes our help, i don't see a problem. there's no turning back until a reasonable medium is reached. |
