impala, a lot of that is because Christians are bigger dicks about their religion than most others are (Muslims being the notable exception). Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. aren't usually trying to shove their respective religions down the throats of others. For instance, I've never seen a Buddhist with a bullhorn trying to claim that Buddha cures AIDS (sorry, flashback to me wanting to punch a couple of evangelicals in their pretty little faces a few weeks ago).

again... what's this religion throat shoving you speak of? and if you want to brand christians "dicks about their religion" because of the few extremists out there, i suppose that's your right. i don't brand muslims as "big dicks" about thier religion just because of losers like osama bin laden.

Oh, don't get me wrong... I don't dislike all Christians or Christianity as a whole. I do dislike the increasingly vocal minority of fundie Christian douchebags, though. I'm just saying that, while you DO hear about Christians and Muslims being dicks about their religions, you never hear that about Jews or Buddhists or Hindus or, really, anybody else. It may be going on on the world stage and I'm just unaware of that, but this is my experience as an American. Other agnostics and atheists probably experience the same thing and thus single out Christianity.

That having been said, I don't think much of ANY religion, but I don't go out of my way to bash them either. I will meet Christians or whomever head-on in a debate about religious issues if they come up, but I don't go looking for fights.

Do you blame the religion of Christianity or the specific Christians that hurt you in some way for this vendetta?

I think the problem with a lot of Christianity today is that it has been focused on institutionalization of Christianity, boycotting r-rated movies, and anti-beer campaigns instead of focusing on the foundation of the religion and Jesus' teachings: Love.

No...

I don't have to nor do I care to share my personal reasons for not being Christian. Unlike Christians, i do not have a personal mission to convert others. I don't give a fuck if you believe in god, but I will laugh at you.

Im going to side with Christianity on this one. Often times, nonbelievers misunderstand the Christian's approach to dealing with suffering. People think that Christians are saying that Jesus will cure you of your aids; however, that is not what Christians are saying at all. Sure, anything is possible through the power of Christ (according to Christians), but they realize that a miracle is few and far between. Rather, Jesus/God are used as the "shoulder to cry on"....someone in whom you can take solice. My best friend just lost her mom to a 3 year battle against cancer. On her deathbed, her mom thanked God for letting her live the 3 years despite being told by doctors she would only live 3 months. She wanted her children to find the peace of mind that she found in Jesus. She relied on God to get her through her pain, and believe me I have never seen someone in so much pain. She died the night before mother's day and left behind 4 children, 2 of which are under the age of 8. I dont understand how someone can love someone so much who allowed this to happen to her...

But yeah, my point is that 99.9% of the time, Christians arent saying that God will cure you, but rather that He will give you a peace of mind through your suffering. Most of the time this is misunderstood.

No, this guy was saying that this other guy's HIV test had come back negative because he'd accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.
