Just thought I'd throw this out there...

went to best buy today, they currently have an insane financing deal in the home theater dept. No interest until Jan 2010 on purchases over $999. 36 months folks... crazy.

i got my new TV and an Xbox 360 smile.gif

or really, anything but cars and houses.

not tryin to argue... but you'd finance something $20k-150k or so, but not 1-3k (at 0% for 3 years no less)?

Maybe in a few years, when I'm on more of what I'd call a career path, I'd consider it, but as it is, at the moment I don't trust myself enough to make consistent payments on anything that I don't deem essential, especially when my current pay is based partially on tips. I'd rather pay for something like electronics all up front.

By the same token though, I need a new TV _really_ badly...

oh yeah i understand... it's insta-financial-crisis if you can't pay the thing off in the alotted time or miss a payment. all accrued interest gets tacked on and your interest rate goes up to like 20%.

oh and another tidbit on the deal, you only have to have $999 in the home theater dept, so it can be TVs, recievers, DVD players, speakers, cable, etc, THEN you can tack on whatever else you want. i went and grabbed a xbox 360 and a couple games and it was tacked on to the no interest deal as well.

here's the TV i snagged (out of stock but I should get it delivered by 12/18)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1138085317167 (was already on sale for $2499 from $2799) I did my research and this sucker is a badass.

i used to work at a best buy a long long time ago, so i know the insane markups on cables, but this is getting f'n ridiculous.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1142301233713

don't ever buy cables from best buy unless you get them on the employee discount.

what the FUCK

that cable is insane.

granted, 35 feet with a high-def signal on cutting edge HDMI would need some serious shielding and whatnot, and that's about as far as it's gonna go without any signal degredation (maybe 50 feet, iunno much bout HDMI signals), but DAMN. I could buy a cheap TV for that much.

Monster does make good cables, nobody can deny that, but they've always had a ridiculous markup. They're the cables you buy if you're building a home theater for someone else. And they're footing the bill.

yeah, when i worked there, just before i left i bought a ton of monster cable. the total at the register was about $650, after employee discount (which is 5% above cost) my total was like $95.

when I worked there, I needed to buy a SHIT ton of cat 5 cable to wire a house. Before the discount it came out to almost $700. After the discount, it was a little over $100. Im sorry, thats fucking ridiculous.

I want a new tv. Probably shouldnt get one right now though since I wont have a job for a bit come January

I envy you... although I would never buy a Samsung. nonetheless, its cool

And if I was going to spend that much on a tv, I would go with this:
