I've never smoked pot (and likely never will), but I do think it should be legalized. Am I scum now? tongue.gif

Heck yeah

if cigs and alcohol are legal, then pot should be as well.

Well it isn't really an "acceptable" vice yet. People are willing to allow alcohol and tobacco to hurt people. Not really a big outcry for pot like there was for alchohol during prohibition. Its definitely moving towards one day being legal, but "should" is really relative when it comes to vices that harm the public.

Yeah, I definately agree with you that weed is not socially acceptable in america. Americans have a tradition of generally obeying the law. Of course, you always have your rebels who will disregard the law. However, Americans generally obey the rule of law unlike most Europeans. The problem is that Cigs and alcohol have always been traditionally legal. Even when booze was prohibited people actively fought the law because it was seen as unjust. It will take a while for people to change their opinions on weed. One of the main problems is that there is no independent research on marijuana. Research today is either slanted heavily for or against weed. I myself am guilty of this, when I argue I naturally have my own agenda as do most of you. I think that the differing views of weed fall in between the two sides. I will admit there are some disadvantages to getting high, but that holds true for any recreational drug including booze. However, I believe the advantages of smoking outway the disadvantages to me. That is why I have personally decided to smoke. If other people think that smoking is evil or makes people bums that is fine, they are entitled to their opinion. All I ask is that people have an open mind about marijuana and dont dismiss it as a dangerious drug...

oversensitive much? you sound like a typical addict justifying and defending their drug.

here's some supporting evidence for him: most of my friends became lazy as hell after getting stoned. only thing they had enough energy for was driving to Short Stop for a chili cheese burger and watching deep intellectual programming like Ren & Stimpy. i should know, i was one of those people for about a year.

i don't need some scientific study to tell me what i can see with my own two eyes. it's called common sense, which apparently you have little of (or you're in complete denial, another trait of an addict). and i don't need some scientific study to tell me marijuana carries some form of addiction and dependency. everyone i know who smokes now smokes greater amounts and more often to get the same high compared to when they started. hmm, that sounds like dependency and higher tolerance to me

zetec you really are a tool

hey, asshat, go back and read what I wrote. I'm not even going to bother trying to get through your thick ass skull, because honestly, you're just another piece of redneck trash that really, doesn't make a shit's worth of difference in anybody's life. And once more, for the last time, I've been sober for over a year now. Next time you want to call me an addict, go look in the mirror as you take another swig, you drunk ass rednecked piece of shit.

QUOTE (Dogmeat @ Nov 17 2006, 09:58 AM) *
all I know is I've been around the block with drugs before, mainly pot and hallucinogens with some other potpourri thrown in there, and ya know what?

I have never met to this day a successful person in life who is [still] a stoner. Not one. I've never met people with shittier attitudes towards life than druggies, I've never met druggies who had accomplished a god damned thing with their lives but being druggies ....

But nooooooooo, nah man, smoking pot and candy flipping and doesn't effect you at all, it just makes you happy!

Have you ever really met a happy druggie? I haven't. I've met stoned druggies that while they're on the drug seem to forget their lives suck ... but I've never met a happy one before.

For those of you who might claim I've never "done enough" of somethign to know how it really effects people, I'd say you're right, I was smart enough to never let myself get to that point at least ... so what do you want' a fucking medal for being even dumber than I was for doing more drugs? Fine, here you go ... So with that said, if you're not agreeing with me about it you're probably still all fucked up on something...

Seriously folks, there was one thing you were taught in public education that they really weren't lying about....Drugs are bad, mmmmmk?

I actually agree with this. Especially the bold part. (Well, I have seen a FEW, but they were certainly not to the degree of success i wish to attain. I've seen a few, but they are few and far between, and I'm not naive enough to believe that i'm gonna be lucky enough to be that exception to the rule.)

And Will, you truly are a rednecked maggot-humping loser who's rage at his daddy-issues only furthers his white trash stereotype and continues his toolness. Please, go drink yourself to death.

edit: clarification on my parenthisis.
