Hey, anybody know what diseases/vitamin deficiencies/ etc. can be causing my hair to fall out? The past 2 months has been ridiculous. I'm not getting a receding hairline or bald spots or anything and hairloss does not run in my family, so it's nothing like that. My hair is just falling out. I can run my fingers through my hair and a handfull of hair will be in my hand. When I wash my hair, I'm just pulling out clumps of hair. My hair feels noticeably thinner to me, but nobody else notices because I have thick hair. I find hair ALL OVER THE HOUSE. I mean, it's everywhere. What is wrong with me?

Shave your head. I did it and chicks dig it. If you do it, chicks will probably dig you as well -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Hmm... I think the shaved head look on females is kinda cool. Demi Moore in GI Jane. or better yet Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta. However, my hairloss isn't a genetic problem or anything. I think it's some sort of vitamin deficiency. Also, my hair is very "bendy"... like it just curls up in one or two spots on each strand and sometimes at a right angle. I don't know why it would do that. I have heard of hair doing weird things during pregnancy, and my hair was quite difficult during pregnancy. I know those things can be permanent, but what is happening now didn't happen when I was pregnant. Also, my scalp is incredibly sensitive. Not to give too much information, but I usually like my hair pulled, but I can't even stand someone touching my hair now. It just hurts.

Does psoriasis run in the family? I would go see a Derm.

B vitamins, primarily. Start taking a multivitamin if you don't already. That's usually sufficient to cover any deficiencies you might have.

Apparently it's normal to lose hair after giving birth. Should return to normal 6 months or so post-partum: http://www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-normal...irth_1335883.bc
And yeah, I know you're right at 6 months, but everyone is different. -------------------- |

ok that's gotta be what it is. It started, like I said, about 2 or 3 months ago, which would have been between 12-16 weeks postpardum

It's getting worse. I'm waking up to a pile of hair on my pillow. I'm also super tired all the time. I went ahead and made a dr's appointment for tomorrow.

Haven't you been diagnosed as borderline anemic before? Hair loss + fatigue pretty much screams iron deficiency to me.

Haven't you been diagnosed as borderline anemic before? Hair loss + fatigue pretty much screams iron deficiency to me. ya and I have a reoccurring thyroid problem which can also lead to the same thing. I'm taking vitamins now though so I would have thought if it were iron deficiency that it would have stopped by now.
