Mormons were just my example. I am well aware that there are several religions and philosophies that are against women fighting or anyone fighting for that matter.

IMO women who want to be in the military should have to pass the same physical requirements as men. Currently, that is not the case. For instance, a 21 year old male is allotted less time to complete a PT test run than a woman of the same age. Women also do not have to complete as many push-ups or sit-ups. Why? Because most women do not have the physical capacity that men do. The male body is built differently than ours. We are stronger in other areas. Obviously, women tend to have a higher pain threshold than men because of our ability to carry and bear children. That's not to say a guy can't withstand pain, but a woman's body is built for it. If anyone here thinks there are not psychological differences between men and women, they are sorely mislead. Women want to share their feelings. They tend to bring their problems home from work. Men, on the other hand, keep a lot more of it in. They would rather separate work and home life. If women were drafted that did not want to be there (as would be the case with any draft), they would be a hell of a lot more vocal about it than men would (IN MOST CASES). They would bring everyone down with them. Men keep their experiences in. Think about all those war stories you hear about Vietnam vets who never talk about their experiences during the war. Keeping it private is their way of dealing with it. I don't care what MOS a person has in the military. As a male, it doesn't matter your MOS, you still have to pass the same physical fitness requirements as others. A medic has to be just as fit as someone who is infintry. (Unless of course they are some sort of special force like the Navy Seals, etc.) Why? Because those people are there to FIGHT if need be. If they ever to assume the fighting role, they can. Women would be a waste of military resources. They would be a liability because of their ability to get pregnant. I am old fashioned. I think the man should be the protector of the household. When I got married, I wanted to join the Army; but Shane wouldn't let me. He knew I would go to Iraq as soon as I finish OTS and AIT (if I had to even do AIT) because I have no specialty degree like law or engineering. If God (or the evolutionary process for that matter) wanted us to be as strong as men, we would be. Yeah, I think women should be able to vote, go wherever they please, divorce their husbands, work a good job; but I don't think they should be mandated to participate in a war, no matter what their assignment is. We all know that in a war, disaster can strike any time any place. Honestly, men, do you really want a bunch of women responsible for your life if a "green zone" area were to attacked?

We got really lucky when we got here to Georgia. My husband was attached to a brigade that is the first of its kind. The government asked the Army to head up a special unit to deal with homeland security. The brigade my husband is in was the first one to head up the operation. They are assigned to it for a year. Because of this, he cannot be deployed OVERSEAS for the next 18 months or so. However, he has to be ready at a minutes notice to deploy anywhere in the United States to respond to anything from a 9/11 situation to a natural disaster such as Katrina. I know none of you care and it's off topic. I just thought it was a neat assignment for the military to hand out. I didn't even hear about it until he was began all the training for it.

If a woman gets pregnant in war time, there is a 99% chance that some dude in the military knocked her up. I don't believe that conservatives are the only ones with sound beliefs, they are just different. I don't think most of the people who posted in this thread are worried about sounding politically correct, it's their, our fundamental belief. I don't think it makes men less of a man if they want women to be drafted, or join the military. I think it takes more of a man to do so. Why is chivalry a good thing? I've rarely been to a place in this country where men won't open the door for the next person in line. Even my most liberal (read borderline communist) friends open doors for people, it's still polite. Not all women are attracted to the macho, chauvinistic type of men, man, I don't even know what to say anymore...

I guess I'll ask this, what do you believe the role of women and men should be in this world? And do you believe that this belief is the correct belief that all people should abide by?

Your argument is based off the fact that women aren't capable (when they are), and there should be legislation "protecting" women... purely on a "chilvalry" reason. Its the exact same reasoning that made it so women in the past couldn't... vote, own property, enter into their own contracts without ther HUSBAND's consent, be anything proffessional, and generally do ANYTHING but raise the children and be pretty. I am all about being a gentleman, but im not going to legislate that women are less capable based off me wanting to be a gentleman.
