Will, between where I lived at the Intern, then my ex girlfriend living and working at Sierra Crossing, we witnessed three police raids on houses back there, two of which were within plain sight of Sierra Crossing...

I don't know how inept the LPD is, but there did literally raid those houses back there ...

Some people just don't understand that maybe they are building a case against certain people and don't want to arrest someone for breaking a car window but would rather wait until they have evidence of a real crime they suspect them of. I doubt it's that they just don't like arresting gang bangers and petty criminals.

except when the city is run by a crime lord like McDougal

it was proven he was connected to some sort of "crime organization" be it the mafia or whatever but they ran all kinds of drugs and other shit...wouldn't be surprised if there were cops on the payroll

Lubbock needs Batman!

Haha, yeah I've discussed this before as well.

Lubbock needs the Flash! Lots of flat space for him to run on.

Although it'd be all Watchmen style: no superpowers (save for Dr. Manhattan, of course).

What was his name? A friend of mine (he's a mo, that's why I ask) used to live there. I don't remember offhand any crap that I heard about, but he's hardly ever home anyway.

We lived at Waterford for two years, right on 4th across from United. Though not the most attractive exterior, we never had a problem with security whatsoever. Though they have the option if you buy a landline to hook it up to these buttons in ever room where if you push it, the police automatically get called.

My best piece of advice is to request an apartment that's not right on the road. I would think thieves would be deterred at least somewhat if they had to actually traipse around the middle area of the complex, surrounded by lots of buildings and no parking for a quick getaway.

You'd think that, but I've lived in an apartment directly on an access road to the loop for the past four years now and have never had any problems with my truck or known of any problems for anyone in my building. I do think there were some break-ins on some of the more interior buildings' vehicles though.

I guess this would ave been 05/06 ...

But. any property within a 5-mile radius of Tech could be considered a student property even if it isn't marketed as such.

Remember "The Center"? How they tried to market that as "upscale downtown lubbock urban dewllings" and it was anywhere from $800 -> $1400 a month?

And then somehow magically %95 of the population there were students driving BMW's? For a lot of people who came from Dallas, Houston $800 a month for an apartment didn't even phase them.

But, it's not just Lubbock, anywhere you have a lot of mexicans there's going to be a lot of crime, then when you combine that with drunk stupid college students, there's naturally going to be more crime...

Then when you combine mexicans, and college kids, you have the makings of drug buyers, and people who obviously sell lots of drugs ....

It's kind of inevetible.

But, any college campus is going to have a higher crime rate....it's pretty much that way ANYWHERE, even in Wyoming.
