I don't really think you are the type of person Jim and Seth (Chicken) are talking about then. I mean, yeah, according to the BMI chart, you are barely in the extremely obese section, but at the same time, I think those charts are flawed. I felt very healthy at 115 lbs. even though I am 5'8. That's considered super below normal. I think they are talking about the people that can barely get off the couch. I just know my friend from high school was nearing the point where it was difficult for her to be mobile. She had a really pretty face though and never smelled. I remember some guy first started going to our high school and made fun of her BIG TIME because of her weight. Then, like a couple weeks later, they were inseperable because he found out how cool she was. She knew that he had made fun of her too. I think people just need to get past certain things on their own. Maybe they might gain something really awesome... like a really good friend.

Quit crying about being big. Just because i think its personally disgusting to be fat (because i would go insane at that weight) does not mean im "smell" disgusted with obese people like Jim. When i said "how i feel towards them" i meant it. I can be disgusted by a certain flaw of someone and still feel perfectly normal towards them. Big deal if you are a tub of lard, thats your decision. I personally think its disgusting to reach such a weight but i honestly don't give 2 shits if you are a fatty. There is a difference with being "disgusted" with a person, and thinking something about a person is disgusting.

I'm not a doctor either, but that wasn't my argument. I said that the weight gain is caused by eating too much. If the medicine lowers your basal metabolic rate(again, I wasn't arguing that it can't), your caloric requirements to maintain the same weight is lowered. If you maintain the same eating habits with a reduced basal metabolic rate, you'll gain weight because you're eating too much.

The boy eats 3 smalls meals a day and 1 snack. Any nutritionist will tell you that it's not good to skip meals and that it's healthier to eat throughout the day, especially for a growing teenage boy. My mom told me today though that his little tummy is almost gone again. The boy swims like 3+ hours a day and lifts weight for 30 minutes every morning. Guess it's keeping him fit.

I'll chime in on this ridiculous topic.
Obesity is a problem that needs to be curbed.
It is a personal problem. Fuck you government if you're going to determine my waistline for me!
Now if we all become a society of Jabba-the-Hutts...ok, maybe more drastic action will be necessary. But we certainly aren't there yet.
Encourage more personal life changes and that'll help some right there. (offices offering gym membership discounts, cafeterias offering healthier alternatives, etc.)

hmm according to that BMI table, i'm overweight. I was told that loosing more than 20 pounds would be bad for me, and that would still leave me overweight.
