Will, you really are ignorant sometimes. If you want to talk about stuff we told each other, you said yourself that your business classes were pointless. I would venture to say just as "useless," if not more so, than my philosophy classes.... for obvious reasons that I won't say so as to avoid the low blows.
If you still think that all a philosophy class teaches is how to "think things through" then you are even more ignorant. In fact, that's really not what it is about at all. Philosophy, in my opinion is a mix of English, history, and math. I like all three a great deal. In my classes, we were graded on our grammar, spelling, and punctuation in the papers we wrote = English. We had to learn a great deal about great thinkers in the past like Frank, Descartes, Locke, Rawls = history. Finally, logic is math without numbers. It's basically balancing giant equations = math. I have it in my mind to post a paper or two I wrote on metaphysics. You read part of one once and stopped because you said you didn't understand it. It's not that it doesn't make sense. It's that your mind couldn't grasp the concepts. (I know this because I got an offer to the grad program from the philosophy dept for the very paper I had you read)

I don't get "butt hurt" by ANYTHING you say. Trust me on that one.

Yeah jessica I'm really not trying to talk shit on your degree, although I'm sure that's how I'm coming off, but I don't think I would have learned a single thing from it in college.

My business classes WERE useless sorta. They were teaching me less about business (you know, the goddamn reason I went to college) and more about how to study well. I learned how to study in high school; that's the point of high school, to prepare you for college. And I'm not talking about entry level freshman classes; these were junior and senior level marketing and economics classes. If you're expecting me to defend my major I won't. Marketing is an easy major. I just never really tried since my reaction to learning the material was usually "I've known that for years" or "well duh"

Accept that a starting position with a newspaper is in the 33-38k range. Psychology starting pay is at 22k if I remember correctly. I'm sure there are 9 other degrees you could fit in between those numbers...Hell an internship with a newspaper pays about as much as the starting pay for a bachelor's in psychology gets. This is based off of some average pay article I read a while back that said psychology was the lowest.

And I highly doubt mass comm majors leave school and average 33-38k. At least, not in Texas.
