typically they dont. certainly not now. SUVs are losing value so much people are taking BIG hits trying to hand them off to get more FE vehicles. getting thousands of dollars less than bluebook

in comparison to foreign smallers cars like honda, toyota - not even close

i know a few people that sold their 2007 Priuses for MORE than they paid for them new last year went around and then bought a new 2008 with a profit! and if you research it camrys etc hold their values the most
not everyone knows this?

You're right

Impala seriously? Trucks and SUVs have awful resale value because of the points she mentioned

Ok ok ok ok ok

Here, I researched KBB on the Prius and a Chevy Silverado 2500 Extended Cab, Short Bed (6.0 Liter V8, 2WD) truck, both 2005, both with 25k miles, both with only standard options checked (however to be fair, the Prius comes with a hell of a lot more standard options than the Silverado so the Prius may have a slight KBB advantage), and both in good condition.

Prius: MSRP: $21,580
Good: $16,575
Difference: $5005

Chevy: $19,055
Good: $13,540
Difference: $5515

Hmmm... Looks about the same to me.

FULL SIZE TRUCKS STILL HAVE GOOD RESALE VALUE WHICH IS WHAT IMPALA AND I HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG. Jesus Christ, people. Mid-size trucks and SUVs are the ones struggling right now. Full size trucks still have a consumer base.

i think people would be lucky now to get decent money for resale/trade in SUVs (a class i add trucks into) so imo and what seeeeeeeeeeems to be true the KBB values are inflated for them

EVEN FULL SIZE ONES

go look up some values jackasses!

geez

cat saying "well they typically dont" isn't some kind of damn proof!

And for the last damn time I said TRUCKS. I even said LARGE TRUCKS, and removed "SMALL TRUCKS & SINGLE CAB FULL SIZED TRUCKS" from what I was referring to. I already said I do not consider trucks & SUVs the same thing. people buy them for different reasons.

Why would you add a full size truck into an SUV class when trucks have been around decades longer than the SUV? That makes.... ZERO SENSE>

damnit the above comment refers to impalas post

to me SUV means nothing more than a larger vehicle thats typically heavier and thus lower FE. so basically anything over a small crossover to me is a "SUV"

1. Fuel efficient cars hold good value (NOW, but not usually in the past)
2. Full sized pickup trucks hold good value
3. SUVs used to hold excellent value, but are not doing as well due to fuel costs.

can we all agree?

This thread has reached a new all-time high of stupidity. I'm not gonna lie, I get along with him now, but Will popping in to defend Cathryn sent the stupidity level off the charts. That and the including trucks in the SUV class. *bangs head against desk*

but FE cars (ex. i used civics) hold the best right now in this market (in comparison to SUVs and Trucks)

except that SUVs typically have even worse gas mileage than trucks... or at least they used to. I don't know about the 07s and 08s

I agree to this as it is pretty much what I have been saying from the beginning.

I'll disagree with this. Camry and Toyota's are known to hold their values. Caddies not as much.
