I wouldn't speak so soon Cat. you'd be very surprised at who can end up as your boss. maybe not specifically Will, but lots of people are excellent managers or get into high level positions who've never set foot on a college campus.

I agree with that point BUT it's much more feasible to make it to the top with a degree. People without degrees have to bring something very special to the table that is extraordinary.

working in higher education, degrees kind of set the order in the food chain for the most part.

your bachelors, not for the most part, but almost everything professional in higher ed requires a masters now, and director positions need phds. and there are fewer and fewer faculty without a phd now.

so if Will ever becomes my boss I'll know that he has to be really good at sucking dick, because, fun guy he may be, we care buttloads about pieces of paper in this field.

however, if i get out of this field and become a corporate lawyer, who knows.

yeah makes sense in higher ed. but honestly in most jobs its all about experience. the degree just helps you get your foot in the door to begin accumulating experience.

When you need a short term job for money, you take the first job you find. I hate having to explain common sense things to people, but then again I'm talking to you so it's expected

3. I don't live with my mom. But yeah, I work a boring office job for my mom that's getting me nowhere in life. Did I mention I have a real estate license, I'm a consultant to a sports marketing firm (advertising for the fucking Wranglers, but it's a start, albeit a lame one), and my investments netted me somewhere around $45k in the past calendar year? That's on top of the $30k or whatever I make working for my mom. How much do you make, with your fancy framed college degree on your wall?

Just because I don't talk about every single thing I do for a living on Techsans doesn't mean I don't do other things besides working an 8-5 job for my mother.

Funny "investment" story: I bought two handles of Polar Ice vodka this week for one reason, and that reason wasn't to get drunk. My roommates never bother planning ahead and always wind up getting home at 2:30 with a bunch of people and all the alcohol is gone. One of em woke me up this morning
