I've been wanting a Wii for a long time now, and was planning on buying one in the next month or two. However, I had never actually seen one or played with one, I was just going off of what I'd read online and heard from other people. It just sounded really cool.
Well today I was at a friend's house who had one, and we played it. I played several different types of games... a WW2 flying game, tennis, baseball, and even some cheesy stuff that it comes with. Let me tell you, the only game I remotely enjoyed was the Tank game that came on the cheesy stuff (I think it's called Wii Play or something). Oh and tennis was alright. I'd much rather play a game where I have more control and precision. There just isn't much detail in accuracy with the Wii..I mean it makes sense though, since it's all by movement and that all can't be 100% accurate. I'm sure practicing would make it a more enjoyable experience, but I just didn't have that much fun with it. I think I'm just gonna buy a Blu Ray player instead... You guys with Wiis...do you seriously enjoy them that much? Did I just play the wrong games? -------------------- ![]() |

There are tricks to the Wii. Wii sports is fun. I think it does have a fair amount of precision to it. I mean, in bowling, there are tricks to getting a strike every time. Tennis... I know people that are great at it, and I suck. I mean, it can be competitive because there are ways to perfect it. My roommate just got MarioKart for the Wii today. I don't know if it's any good, but I can here her and her friend playing it and it sounds like they are having fun. My husband and I have a Wii but we never play it. It's kinda one of those things that once you play it enough, you won't want to play it unless you have a bunch of people over. We are keeping it for when the baby gets old enough to play. That's really the only reason to have one for us right now.

for me it was fun for about a month or two, then it just became a party/novelty game. The controllers aren't really that precise, and I think it's pretty gay that someone can sit on the couch and barely move the controller an inch to make a backhand swing with a tennis racket. Supposedly the star wars "force unleashed" game coming out will allow lightsaber fights w/the wiimote and people were hailing it as the first really good game. But first reports are that it's kinda buggy and not even real time. I.e. your movement isn't mimmicked, it's more like doing a certain gesture w/the wiimote makes you do a certain lightsaber move. really ghey IMHO. if I'm going to just choose pre-set moves I'd rather play it on 360 where the graphics will kick ass than hope I get some movement gesture correct.
Anyhow, just my $0.02 on the wii. FYI, this past weekend was the first time I'd gotten it out in about 6 months, and that was bc my buddies who don't have one wanted me to bring it with me on my trip to visit. |

The controllers aren't really that precise, and I think it's pretty gay that someone can sit on the couch and barely move the controller an inch to make a backhand swing with a tennis racket. this was my main problem. playing baseball, you just tilt the controller down and it pitches it...i was imagining making a throwing motion or something! and for batting, you just barely flick your wrist. same with tennis. and for both tennis and baseball, you have to swing way before it seems like you should (so it doesnt seem like its synched very realistically). like jessica said, i'm sure there are tricks you have to learn in order to get good at it, but i was hoping you didnt have to learn tricks in order to play. i thought it was supposed to be kinda realistic, as far as movements. and if i have to learn tricks to make certain combo plays and what not, i'd rather do what impala said and just get an xbox where its more precise and has better graphics. -------------------- ![]() |

Never before have I met a steering wheel that if you tilt it slightly to the right, you crash head on in to the wall at an 85 degree angle. It isn't realistic at all -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

I haven't tried the wii wheel, but I'd imagine it'd be strange to drive with a wheel that wasn't anchored to something.

Car games- I'm usually all over the place, but not here. I could drive just fine. I think it's very clean and easy. *shrug*
