Ehh if you say so man, insurance aside, you have to look at what you get for how much you are paying. Once you jump up from the "economy" to "luxury" cars you start paying double for the same features, the engine in one is the same as the engine in the other, the chassis are essentially the same. It seems like a waste of money to get a base model luxury car when you could get basically the same car with a different symbol on the hood for half the price.

I'm trying to give practical advice because if I know anything, its that people buy expensive cars to show off and get laid, but you don't need to spend 45k on a car to get the clap from some cheep floozy.

You know jack shit about jack shit. If you think an Acura NSX shares any similarities with a Scion tC other than they both have four wheels you've officially made the dumbest comment I've ever read on here. Even dumber than some of the shit the other jew said.

And I'm not buying it to "get laid." I wouldn't date a girl who liked me for my car, not now nor in the future. That's about as asinine as saying guys who drive lifted trucks do so to make up for their small penis size. It's a fucking stupid argument that comes from the jealousy that you have because you're driving a Toyota Camry and they're driving something cool

Edit: nevermind, I don't know jack shit about cars and that's the only thing that's important when buying a car, it has nothing to do with being able to fucking afford the costs to actually own one.

Enjoy your debt because without steady income "my money comes in spurts" you're going to get fucked in every hole you have.

I look forward to your "I just wrecked my car and now I have rising medical bills and no car because I spent 45k on a car I really didn't need and couldn't truly afford and got liability insurance only"

But what do I know, I don't know jack shit about cars.

Edit2: I happen to like toyota, but I guess I'll be jealous of your car, you can be jealous of my bank account...sigh, I'm so jealous, aww well, I guess I'll go count my money again to keep myself occupied.

Oh no, the dreaded point by point counter-argument.

I develop software for a living, so typing out a couple of /quote tags isn't exactly some "dreaded" difficult thing.

Buying a car is a personal choice so get what you want...there, you win. You can enjoy your car, I'll enjoy the downpayment on a house.

Did it occur to you that some people actually do both! Whoa no way!

Its over impala, as much as I know that you're going to find something in the above (or even this) statement to bitch at, don't, because I don't care

If you don't care why'd you bother to respond or read this response?

QUOTE (rabble @ Apr 10 2008, 03:31 PM) *
and it makes you look like an ass, especially after you just won the discussion.

It makes me look like an ass? to point out the flaws in your response trying to argue with me about insurance. or respond to you jawing at will with stuff like: "Maybe I think spending more than 20k on a car is fucking stupid." well if you really think it's stupid, I guess once reading the first post you shoulda figured out you have nothing to contribute.

I'm bored...

Besides, I had a really thoughtful response written out for oasis, but then he had to call me out and tell me I don't know anything, so fuck him, he can waste his money any way he wants, and I'll just sit back in laugh when he's getting raped by the insurance company and gas bill (it seems to me he can't afford either of them with his non steady income).

I sure as hell hope people care enough about me when I'm up shit creek, but don't tell me I'm a fucking moron when you're the one about to throw your money away.

If you want to argue cars then I can't do that, I really don't know anything about them other than they have 4 wheels and they go. But if you want to talk about making rational financial decisions then I know a little something more. His money comes in "spurts," he is getting extra money from his family, he is only going to get (can only afford) liability insurance (on a 45k car are you fucking kidding me, FULL COVERAGE that fucking car), I don't care what kind of car it is, based on this information he should buy a more economical car, he can't afford the risk...end of story.

do you say this about every person who drives a nicer car than you?

Well paying for the entire car without any loan a pretty awesome financial decision. Although I'm forced to agree that liability only on a brand new car is very bad idea. But Will's thread was asking about what kinda cars fit his criteria, not asking for an evaluation of his financial decisions wink.gif
