essentially what Huckabee said:
Having tolerance of an old black man = fine. Having tolerance for a preacher who let his emotions get away from him = fine. Bigoted and racially charged speech = not fine. There is no way anyone can truly know whether Obama agrees with this man's statements. Obviously, as a presidential candidate he is practically required to denounce the statements, or he loses his campaign. The only thing we do know to be 100% true, is that Obama listened too and treated this man as a mentor and advisor for twenty years. In a more extreme hypothetical, it'd be like saying Hitler was your mentor for twenty years, but you got no beef w/the jews. |
