www.pythonchallenge.com

Has anyone else tried this? It's a pretty good way to learn python (but it can be done in any language).

I've tried a few. Take a look at Project Euler for some fun stuff.

??

In that case I've yet to see a valid example of why I need to use PHP, C#, or ksh. rolleyes.gif

Are there problems that Python can solve itself? No. It's just a preference of syntax and available libraries. In my experience the available scientific libraries for Python are better than other options.

I dunno about scientific libraries, but I can definitely see why python would be a very good choice for a command line utility or for a program that does a lot of text processing. I don't see it as a very useful language for GUI design though.

Nope. Python's not going to help you in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Sorry.

C# is compiled. that's reason enough IMHO.

C#, C++, whatever. Take your pick. Compiled was the key word.

You should check out IronPython. It's pretty easily mixed with C# if need be.

Eh no thanks, I enjoy my C# & C++ and know it like the back of my hand. Is there some revolutionary things I can do with Python that make it worth looking at?

Well, yes and no. Is there anything revolutionary that will replace C# or C++? No. Is it worth your time? Maybe. Python's a pretty trivial language to learn and it is a lot more readable (at least to me) than C#. I feel that it makes writing really tedious code relatively easy as well.

But I don't know what your current situation is, so I don't really know if it would be useful for you.
