I don't know what the fuck you did, but I got a ticket to San Fran for 287 with AA while Southwest wanted to charge me 350.

I miss dating someone who worked for an airline.....free flights were pretty nice. crying.gif

Just because you find cheaper fairs somewhere else ONE TIME doesn't mean that they suck balls. Prices fluctuate.

For my past 3 trips within the last two years AA has been cheaper than Southwest.

Just admit Southwest blows. Just because they're supposed to have "better customer service" doesn't mean they actually do or that they're a better airline. They can take their customer service and stick it up their ass and fuck off while doing it.

I wouldn't know if they have better customer service, but watching that show Airline on A&E makes me not wanna fly on Southwest. Some of those people are assholes.

Duane, get another boyfriend that works for an airline so you can get me free flights and I can quit complaining online.

Because cheap flights to what they term as "D.C." is the only way they compete with the airlines that fly into Dulles and Reagan.

The reason that the tickets Woody brought up are cheaper on Southwest is because they are last minute tickets, and that's somewhere that Southwest does a better job.

i just hate the nondirect flights. having to fly through austin or dallas to get home stinks and typically for short trips like that continental is just as cheap or cheaper

is that because they are just struggling more than the other airlines?

The reason is they operate on a non-hub system meaning there are stops and plane changes along the way. They fly point to point with the aircraft then being used for another point to point flight. It makes their scheduling a little easier and does save them some money.

The Houston-Lubbock non-stop flights (they are still considered direct) went away almost six years.

Continental has been mentioning possibly flying a 737 (same plane as Southwest) non-stop to Lubbock so we'll see what happens. It would make it easier to get a seat and allow for more comfortable ride.

They aren't really hubs, they are "focus cities":

* McCarran International Airport
* Chicago Midway International Airport
* Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
* Baltimore-Washington International Airport
* Oakland International Airport
* William P. Hobby Airport
* Dallas Love Field
* Los Angeles International Airport
* Orlando International Airport
* San Diego International Airport

but they have pretty large operations everywhere that they fly. I'm not aware of a single destination that has less than 3 gates.

If you're going to San Francisco, it would be worth it to consider flying into San Jose or Oakland in addition to SFO, if you haven't done so already. It's all in the same metro blob, but the prices can be pretty different.
