plus those guys are 250 at what, like 6% body fat or something?

I think if I was to get down to about %6 body fat I'd probably weigh in at under 230 ... I don't know for sure though.

The leanest I've been in a long time was this time last year because I was working 18 hour days as a frac hand, and I dropped 17 pounds just from that in a month and I weighed around 235 ... I "looked" about as lean as I did when I was playing basketball in highschool, and I was around %8 body fat then.

I do know I've probably packed on 5 pounds of muscle in the last year however ... I don't know, I figure I'm probably %16-18 body fat right now.

I'm getting pretty bored with the power lifting right now honestly, I think I'm gonna try cutting weight this spring, watching my diet, and start going for high-rep endurance workouts and just see what happens.

I was talking with a friend of mine here in Casper today at the gym ... He's doing the same type of MMA stuff you are Zach, I think he said he fought in the 140-lb class though ..

He is doing these 100-rep endurance workouts on push excercises, pull excercises, etc ..

I don't think I'm gonna go that nuts with it, but I think I'm gonna switch over what I'm doing from 4-8 rep workouts to perhaps 10-14 rep workouts and do more different excercises and see what happens.

I'm also gonna stop taking creatine, I think that right there will probably drop me 10 pounds.

Yeah, high-rep endurance exercises are amazingly good for combat sports. They help build the strength necessary for the grueling length of a fight. Also, do lots and lots of core exercises & body weight exercises.

That's where I'd be fucked.

I never do "core" excercises.

Well, at least not specifically ... I used to do squats and deadlifts on occasion until I hosed my knee last october, and I didn't wanna quit lifting ... I've gotten kinda top heavy from it sad.gif

I have to go get an MRI on my knee this week actually..

But yeah that's another thing I'm gonna start doing is specific ab and lower back workouts ...

I gotta quit neglecting my core ... heh smile.gif

Well, I'm in Kansas.
Had the weigh-ins this evening. I weighed in at 180, my opponent at 187.
And he's pretty big, about 6'2" I'd say.
Should be a tough fight. I'll post results tomorrow evening after the show.

I prefer fighting at 170 (welterweight), but they only had middleweights lined up for me.

And I usually walk around at 173-175. This is the first time I've weighed 180 in a long time.

*sigh*
Well, I "lost"....
Touched gloves. He hit me with a good 1-2/left-right, didn't hurt but it knocked me off balance. I countered with a few good shots, including a nice overhand right from the clinch (that I think broke my right hand with, haha). He sprung me off the cage and took me down into my guard. I reversed him into his guard. He worked in a loose triangle choke (I had my right arm around his body, which prevents me from being choked). He proceeds to hammer fist the top of my head while I'm hitting his ribs and head with my left fist. Then he starts driving the point of his elbow into the top of my head as I continue to strike him with my left fist. The ref steps in.....because he said I was tapping out....

As soon as the ref stopped it, I popped out and started yelling at him, "what the fuck! I wasn't tapping!" The crowd starts chanting "Bullshit" at the ref for his poor call. The ref knew he made a mistake, but it was too late. I thought they were going to restart the fight (the crowd was chanting "Let them fight!" at this point), but nope.

Oh yeah, another thing: Elbows are ILLEGAL in amateur fights, and POINTS of the elbow are illegal in MMA in general.

So, I'm challenging the ref's call via the Kansas athletic commission (on the recommendation of the promoter and the commission rep that was there).

Blah. Fucking refs. I'll try to have the video up at some point, just need to get my friend to rip it off his camcorder.

Just think, if you do a bunch of steroids and EPA, you can just hit him once so hard he dies and not have to fuck with anything.

It works for The Rock, it should work for you ...
