OK, someone mentioned somewhere there's a hack for Windows based phones where you can use your phone as a universal remote

Please tell me there's something like this for the Iphone. The prospect of going to the bar and changing the channel while white trash idiots are playing virtual poker is highly intriguing

There's a little shiny black square that turns the screen off. Will that work?

My friend constantly fucks with TVs in the airport and most specifically at wal mart so he can play the guitar hero demo with more than 3 decibels of sound.

The TV-B-Gone has these great features.

* Turns off virtually any television
* Perfect for carrying on your keyring
* May take up to 69 seconds for the television to turn off (90% of televisions should turn off within 17 seconds)
* Range: 20 to 50 feet (7 to 17 m), depending on the make and model of the TV
* Contains 209 turn-off codes
* Regular Version works on TVs in US, Canada, Mexico, many Asian countries (European version also available!)
* Lithium batteries included (last about 3 months to one year depending on usage)
* Dimensions: 1.92" x 2.27" x .675"
* Weight: 26 grams with batteries

Price: $15.99

they also have this: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/9a06/ that has a little more functionality, it may even be cheaper.

pretty sure most phones don't have ir emitters, and isn't too high on the priority list of things to do when creating a phone.
nifty. not useful.

yeah, it's actually going to be taken out of the hardware specs for WM8, possibly even WM7. They just aren't really needed with bluetooth now. Nifty little toys though.

its purpose on devices that it's on is not for controlling TVs. it's for transferring data.
