i'm not trying to sell the features of a mouse. i'm selling the features of an iPhone. use your razr to control your computer. then get back to me. but that's what I'm talkin about... why would I want to use a razr, or any phone to control my computer... when... i... have... a... MOUSE. why would I want to have to hold the device in my left hand, then stick two fingers on there and spread them apart and together to zoom, when I can use one finger on the scroll wheel to do the same thing?? Like I said I think it's nifty, just not useful. It wouldn't be that difficult to make your iphone flush the toilet, but it doesn't make it newsworthy. |

then why have a remote control to operate your tv when there's buttons on the television?
why have a gps when you can use a map? a bluetooth headset when you could just hold the phone to your ear. all these things are nifty. and useful. there a plenty of situations where a mouse can't be used and a computer is present. plenty of situations where this would be useful. a presentation where you're walking around interacting with your audience, for example. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

then why have a remote control to operate your tv when there's buttons on the television? so you dont have to get your ass up to go change the channel why have a gps when you can use a map? because a GPS is easier to use, more accurate, and has much more data a bluetooth headset when you could just hold the phone to your ear. because it makes driving safer there a plenty of situations where a mouse can't be used and a computer is present. plenty of situations where this would be useful. a presentation where you're walking around interacting with your audience, for example. It would indeed be pretty useful for a presentation. Although there are plenty of mice/other devices that do this. But the guy is showing browsing the internet, typing stuff in, etc with it. Would you not agree that for everyday use a mouse & keyboard is much more efficient and useful? |

yes for everyday use, a mouse is more efficient and useful.
but, using the remote analogy, you can use this so you don't have to get your ass up to move the mouse. making america fatter and lazier, one gadget at a time. to call it not useful is a bit of a stretch. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

it's a novelty....it's the whole "look at what my gadget can do and yours can't" thing. It's basically a big dick-measuring contest

I'd just carry my bluetooth mouse across the room with me to call it not useful is a bit of a stretch. Ok. It's not useful 99% of the time /stands by for poll about how many people make presentations where they'd need a remote or watch movies on their computer and dont have a remote |

Yeah that's cool, I wonder which cars have that (the wireless functionality). I have been working on a side project for a while to read data from my truck's computer via the OBD-II port. There's a ton of data that you can get to, IF you can get the proper specs you need to read them. All cars since 1996 implement OBD-II and have a set of data they have to provide (here's a list of them), and is fairly easy to read with an adapter and software. It's just a matter of figuring out the manufacturer specific data structures. I was lucky enough to find a giant excel spreadsheet of most of the GM specs (grab it here if anyone is interested). But yeah every time you press just about any button in your entire car, some event fires in the computer and you can read it. I'd like to eventually build a computer for the truck that replaces the stereo, and has all the bells and whistles like GPS, internet, HD radio, DVD, as well as reading all of the data from the truck.
