So Kosovo has claimed independence but some countries such as Spain, Russia, and China are refusing to recognize them. Maybe its just the American in me but if there is a territory that wants independence and there is a history of violence why not just let them be independent. It would help end violence in that part of the world IMO. But I guess Russia is worried about Checneya(sp) and China worried about Taiwan. It seems like the economic/power is causing them to not want to recognize Kosovo. Hopefully all of that made sense. |

Yeah, and Spain because of the Basque rebels. I agree, if a people can rise up and maintain their independence then they should be recognized.

Texas needs to invade Oklahoma.

The Chinese have gone so far as to not let EVA Air (national airline of Taiwan) to overfly Chinese airspace. I am all for Kosovo's independence and I'm not sure I'd consider it third world as that area is quickly growing and embracing technology (which cannot be said for supposedly modernized areas of China). -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

The biggest problem there is the arbitrary borders the Brits drew up when they pulled out (although I dunno if that included the Balkans). -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! That's a good idea until you realize that California has a GDP of roughly the same amount as France and contributes the most to the GDP of the US... Great, then they can be totally self-sufficent and not have to worry about failing economically. We'll still have every other state in the rockies and mid-west, including Texas. We'll have all the oil. California can go fuck itself. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!
