I was going to do it, but the website uses microsoft's terrible SilverLight technology.

Well, I know these facts:

Compelling Cross-Platform User Experiences

* Deliver media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web that incorporate video, animation, interactivity, and stunning user interfaces.
* Seamless, fast installation for users, thanks to a small, on-demand, easy-to-install plug-in that is under 2 megabytes (MB) in size and works with all leading browsers.
* Consistent experiences between Windows-based and Macintosh computers without any additional installation requirements.
* Create richer, more compelling Web experiences that take greater advantage of the client for increased performance.
* Stunning vector-based graphics, media, text, animation, and overlays that enable seamless integration of graphics and effects into any existing Web application.
* Enhance existing standards/AJAX-based applications with richer graphics and media, and improve their performance and capabilities by using Silverlight.

Most of that is crap. You can do vector based graphics without a plugin and apparently it isn't so cross-platform if doesn't work on a Mac.

How much more can we "enhance" AJAX applications?

It reminds me of that IBM 2.0 Bingo commercial - fill the presentation with so much fluff they don't know what they're getting.

P.S. - I'm installing just to see what's so wonderful. It strikes me as Flash except no one is creating content for this.

I didnt' say it was wonderful. I was simply calling out pebkac for calling it terrible when he probably has no clue what it even is or has never messed with it.

Yeah, I'm downloading it for my Mac now. I'm interested to know how it interacts with my different browsers.

it definitely seems to load videos way faster and with better quality than you'd expect for how fast they load.

Yes, I do know what it is, and yes I have installed it on my mac. And I have yet to find a website that works properly on my mac using silverlight. Please don't make such assumptions in the future.

When I went to the website, none of the buttons were even clickable. (although I did finally get it to work when I booted VMWare fusion and viewed the site in Windows Firefox)

I posted that entertainment tonight golden globes site... did that not work?

yeah, why on earth would I assume you'd have some bias towards apple products and automatically think microsoft products suck without trying them? Especially when you say it sucks and also say it doesn't work on your mac in the same thread. If it doesn't work on your mac, how have you had any experience with it or know wtf it is?

Wow....

So, I am bored at work. I installed that Silverlight thing, and did the quiz thingy. Those first 10 questions were such bullshit, it wasnt even funny! COME ON NOW! Propaganda doesnt even begin to cover it. And the little video things where you have to match the system level with the customer....those were just dead obvious. I love how the final one was Vista Ultimate....SO apparent.

Oh well....my shirt better be in my mailbox within 2 weeks!

What was it called, Windows Vista Consultant shirt? Something like that? Im gonna wear it to like Best Buy and see if someone thinks I am an official rep...and then I am gonna be like, "Let me show you over to these lovely Apple computers!"
