Went and looked at the single unit in Memorial City mall this morning. It's impressive but I won't buy one.

Talking to the Apple employees, not enough of the computers have shipped and the Time Capsule will show up in stores next week.

I tried to go to that mall today.....parking was a bitch, and I didnt feel like driving around for more than 5-10 minutes, so I gave up and left.

I'm not sure I understand completely. If a battery is not being charged or discharged, there is no heat. Personally I leave my laptop in sleep mode and plugged in 24/7 and have never had problems. When I want to use it I just hit the power button which brings it up very quickly, and when I'm done hit the same power button to put it back into sleep mode.

You sir, win a prize for being exactly right with this post.

iPhone bumped up to 16GB today (as well as the iPod touch getting doubled to 32GB). http://www.tuaw.com/2008/02/05/apple-incre...orage-capacity/

I'll wait to see what the 2nd half of this year brings us.

it'd be nice if apple simply included the SDHC slot on the phone instead of hard-wiring the damn things in. although I guess they wouldn't make as much money.

I just wanted to thank the Techsans community for being gay over macs. I had a question on a quiz yesterday over a new version of a mac laptop, and I got it right because of the boards. It was a current events quiz. Those are gay

Was it about the Macbook Air? If so, I think most of us think it's pretty damn retarded.

I seriously doubt that, but no I don't know. If I had to guess I'd say the 1-16GB iPods are flash memory (SD, CF, etc), and the 40-80GB ones are hard drive based. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find out.

edit: their site actually shows that all the iPods except the classic are flash memory.

I do recall a long time ago, some creative MP3 player that was 4GB, cost like $150, and you could remove the built in 4GB CF card (enormous at the time, and sold individually for like $400) and reformat it for use with other devices. People were actually buying these up, removing the CF, selling it for $300-400, then putting a smaller CF in its place and selling the player for $50-60.

The iPod Classic is HDD-based. Everything else uses NAND memory.
