I've used ATI cards for years and they've all been awesome. Had the 9800 pro for several years, then used the 1800XL for the past 3 years or so, and now got the HD 3870. Never had any issues whatsoever, although I skipped the 2900 series which a bud of mine has had lots of issues with.

Building my own stuff has become somewhat of a hobby too, and it's a little cheaper
